Kayiklar Apt. is in the Hacimimi District on a quiet residential street with a large courtyard in the back. The design accentuates the residential scale of two street side units each with a distinct architectural identity. The design offers a ‘cumba’ with traditional stucco and metal window screens for the left unit and a balcony with linear wood rain screen for the right unit. The street level takes on a third character of a lively cube and amorph ivy structure to participate in the street’s public life and define the building’s entry.
