Prototype
Metro Han Resercher Setting
Istanbul Greater Municipality commissioned a prototype for the next generation of public libraries. The current libraries have diverse community profiles, building types, and collections. The response is to define a core of 'settings' for user/audience profiles and then complimentary settings specific to each locations' community and context. The studio explores the prototype approach through public time-based programming and activities for the community specific to a location's collections, audience profile, and human development needs. Color, texture and micro-places establish a bold identity for the city's public libraries while making memorable places to support social learning, research and self-guided knowledge exploration.
