The design challenge was to create a contemporary residential life with vibrant street retail, post micro-industrial minimalist lifestyle apartments and an architectural approach that actively engaged the sediment of building histories of Galata. Our priority was to introduce a breath to the street experience by pulling back the façade line to have large patios for the commercial spaces to spill out and to create a threshold of micro urban ecology. The greenery created by the larger trees, vertical growies and seasonal species that flower and offer a fragrance to the residents and locale takes advantage of the ins-and-outs the landmark commission’s regulations define.
